A stunning book. A love story, love stories. Stories of death. You don't understand anything, then you understand everything, the stories rewrite themselves and change all the time. Just when you think you know a character and their story, they change completely. This book is a real experience, well worth the effort. You're bound to be disturbed by the reading, but it's worth it, it's a unique journey.
This was a great, quick read. I had been told to give Nesbo a try for his talent with suspense. I decided on this rather short novel, and wasn't disappointed.
I followed through the eyes of a "fixer" who reminded me of a few movies I've seen with similar characters. The cold, stark atmosphere was perfect for the writing. I didn't totally expect to connect with the "bad guy" but I did and was both happy and sad in the end.

This felt like a hastily written novella. There were parts and sentences I loved but overall it left me wanting more- more details, more story. Will have to try Nesbo’s other books before I make up my mind about his Norwegian crime books.
“My mum had looked so small lying there in that coffin. Dried up. Maybe her soul had taken more room inside her than most people’s do.”

Audio - English translation. This is my first exposure to this author. This is a short read and a nice job of character development. The plot is nothing special but overall I found the style interesting enough that I will probably read another by the author. I'm curious to find out if I could understand the Norwegian with it's similarities to Danish.

well, this was interesting. the writing style was the classic, nice nesbo's style i love, with plot twists and cleverly planned scenes, but i didn't like the plot that much.

Great reflection on death from the viewpoint of an assassin
