A good, brief, noir-y story about a dyslexic hitman, the crooks he works for, and the two woman he wants to love. It has the good existential uncertainty the genre needs. Nothing new here, really, but a solid story with several nice twists.

Rating 1.4* out of 5. This was extremely disappointing to say the least. I know Jo Nesbø can write riveting thrillers, but this is not even close. The only reason this is not a 1* is because it was so short, I did not have time to get as angry in 172 pages as I would have at a full length novel. Although who am I kidding, had this been more than 250 pages, I would have ditched it early on.

A hit man is asked to expedite the wife of his employer. He falls in love with her instead and the rest follows a predictable route of mediocrity. None of the characters are woth the trouble of caring about or rooting for.

NOT recommended.

meh.

Maybe I would have liked it if I had stuck with it to the end. But i could not. I read his last stand alone novel and it was fine, not as awesome as the Harry Hole series. This one was first person narrative and I did not enjoy the character at all. I fee like he's wasting valuable writing time with this nonsense when he should obviously just be working on more Harry.

I actually liked it more than I anticipated, but it was still a bit of a nothing book. Just a quick, easy, entertaining read.
