So glad that this book was about Seraphine and Blaise. I'm always here for a forbidden romance and I wasn't disappointed. But do have to say most of the plot lackluster and predicable.

Disarm was an intriguing and riveting story. That was full of angsty situations, and manipulative characters. As well as a slow burn romance that crosses both the past and the present between cousins and main characters Seraphine and Blaise. Who were both likable and who both have vulnerabilities and issues with trust. Especially Seraphine who at the age of nine was adopted into the Dumont family, and is only too aware of how different she looks and is.

And with a storyline that was both addictive and dramatic I was easily hooked, and I must say I enjoyed it a great deal more than I did Discretion. And I'm certainly intrigued to see where this series goes next, especially as Pascal is still very much inside the family and seemingly doing his father's bidding.

Would happily recommend.

The Dumonts series has a second book. This is the story of Blaise and Seraphine.
We knew about them from Discretion , the first book in the series. What I didn’t expect is to go through all the suspense and unexpected love story between them!
This story is a very fast paced one, we barely take a break and going back and forward when everything started, to the moments that brings them together more often than just family events and work meetings.
There are many secrets involved and some will be revealed but there are so many other to be discovered still and hopefully we’ll get to read Pascal’s story very soon because he’s my favourite character from this family.
Another great love story added to this family and beautiful place in France.

A suspenseful, chaotic romance read! I really liked both main characters. Seraphine was pretty resilient from the very beginning. She was an outsider who had something to prove to the Dumont family.

At first I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the taboo aspect of the love story, but it grew on me as the story progressed and it was revealed just how detached from their families the two characters were. I felt like neither character received the justice they deserved at the end of the book but I’m hopeful that more will happen in future books in the series!

It was a good read overall. A little slow at times but a solid 3 stars!

Disarm is book two in the Dumont series. I LOVED the first book, Discretion, and I’d recommend reading that one first, however, if you don’t this one will still make sense and you’ll still be able to follow along with the story for the most part.

This book was a SLOW BURN. Like super slow burn. I was getting frustrated with Blaise and Seraphine at times. I would just yell at my kindle telling them to just give in to each other and to their chemistry. Of course, when they finally do things are explosive.

Not only is this a slow burn, but this story is a taboo/forbidden romance. If you’ve read Discretion you have met Blaise and Seraphine, so you know they are cousins, however not by blood. Seraphine was adopted as a child.

Disarm packs in plenty of drama and suspense, along with the steam. Overall, this was a fun read that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I loved Disarm!!! Between the forbidden romance (my favorite) and the suspense, I could NOT put it down. The chemistry between Seraphine and Blaise will make your heart pound. I'm curious to see how Karina will make me like Pascal, along with who will win his heart in Disavow. I'm also hoping a certain someone will get what's coming to them.

Angsty, drama filled, and the perfect amount of mystery and suspense.

The Dumont family is more complicated than most. I highly recommend reading book one, Discretion before diving into this one. Seraphine was adopted into the family when she was just nine years old. When her father died, her world fell apart. Her brothers live in another country and she’s all alone with her evil uncle and her cousins. She is filled with questions and the determination to get answers.

Blaise was so amazing in this book. He loved Seraphine with a fierceness I loved. No matter what happened, once he came to terms with his feelings, he refused to give up on her. He was protective and always put her first. Blaise is Seraphine’s perfect match. She is strong, fierce, and knows when she is right. They compliment each other wonderfully.

Some may see this as a taboo story as they are cousins but they are not blood related. I was a little worried at first, as to how I would feel about it but I ended up really enjoying the story. The slow burn of their romance was perfect for the situation and I enjoyed watching them deal with everything thrown at them.

I’m looking forward to reading the third book, Disavow, which is Pascal’s book when it comes out early next year. I’m still a bit surprised that it is not about Renaud. I’m very interested to see how the author can turn Pascal around and if he can be redeemed.

Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

And another ace for Karina Halle’s Dumonts series. The family dynamic after book one had me reeling, and I was so intrigued as to how Seraphine and Blaise’s web would weave.

”I am forever the predator when it comes to Seraphine, not just in body but in spirit. I want to possess her heart and her thoughts and her soul the same way that she’s taken ownership of mine.”

Disarm is a story of love and family, but also fighting for what you believe in and taking what you deserve. It’s full of angst and oh-so-much sexual tension, I was busting at the seams reading it!

   | Disarm is not really an exciting book. Not a book left me with so much emotion. Instead Disarm is just OK book.

The story of enemy to lover is always my favorite trophe. Usually the author burns the chemistry of hate into love. Miss Halle failed to bring that chemistry.
Both characters have potential. Their name is very excotic. But because Blais, the hero, is always in the background of the story, the story loses it's bite on me.

Overall, OK book.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Disarm as much as I enjoyed Discretion, the first book in this series, and overall, it was a pretty boring read.

While I read Discretion in two sittings, it took me more than two weeks to finish reading Disarm. I really loved Seraphine and Blaise in book one and was so excited to finally read their story. Since they've known each other for many years, this novel was a mixture of flashbacks to their childhood/teenage years and scenes from present day. The flashbacks were okay but overall very boring and made me kind of lose interest in Seraphine and Blaise. Furthermore, the present day scenes weren't really any better. Most of them really dragged on and I often found myself skimming passages of the novel. The scenes that were supposed to be a little more suspenseful and exciting felt pretty unrealistic, over the top and it was quite easy to predict how those scenes would unfold.

However, one of the reasons I kept reading this novel even though I wasn't really enjoying "Disarm" was that I was hoping I'd begin liking it a little more after Seraphine and Blaise had gotten together. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The way the two of them ultimately got together was pretty weird and quite disappointing.
SpoilerAlso, when they finally admitted their feelings, they ended up having sex in an abandoned apartment and that whole scene in my opinion, was just very gross and they deserved better.
So once they'd gotten together, I pretty much lost all interest in this novel. I mostly skimmed the rest of the book and was once again disappointed when the ending of this novel also wrapped up a little too easily.

I love Karina Halle's writing and will definitely keep reading her other books, but I won't be continuing this series.
