Your fanfic dream man comes true and is in your beck and call, obsessed over you??? Ahhh!

.
However, It was hard to root for the characters to end up with each other when there was no chemistry between them. Their biggest love conflict was difference in interests (sporty/nerdy??), and it just didn’t seem like them taking a whole book to overcome this “huge” difference, would make them endgame. And that took away a big chunk of the book interest for me.

Very interesting plot! Ok romance sub-plot.

my blorbo would not fucking be like that if he came to life

The prose itself is nothing to write home about. A book that is exactly for its intended teenage audience and no one else. It's one of those books that tries to teach kids about life and relationships and how fallible we are to fickle insecurity. Ivy and Mack fall out because they become over-possessive of each other. They're interdependent and mutually in love. They still hold that naive ideal that best friends are soulmates, totally identical in hobbies and beliefs. They make themselves "sacrifice" in order to stay near eachother, believing that silent compliance is what earns them their worth and value to the other. (they resolve this at the end of the book)

Ivy learns that what she loves about Mack is exactly what she fears in Mack - their differences in character and interests. Once she accepts that Mack and herself should fulfill their differences with other people, instead of forcing themselves to be attached at the hip - Weston (fictional blorbo come to life) vanishes and all returns to normal.

I am withholding my review of this book until the SMP boycott is resolved. This boycott in no way has affected my thoughts about this book and is not reflected in my rating of this title.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read.
