Interesting overview of several large and impactful community health/disease control projects, still had a nice narrative structure which made it a quick read

This is a really great story of a man who is doing his best to change the world in a way that he can - help fight TB in Haiti. Not always the best writing but the story will get you through it.

I love reading about global health. This book covers patients at the individual level as well as health policy. Lots of respect for PIH and Dr. Farmer although I have slightly different views on international work.

This book is phenomenal. I love reading about people who are changing the world even when all odds seem against them.

What an excellent book. If you ever feel like complaining about your life, pick up this book. It's not that it is in anyway a guilt trip, but being reminded how hard things are--lack of medical care, clean water, clean living conditions, governments that change through major upheavals regularly--in many third world countries. I can't even imagine how much worse things must be in Haiti now that the earthquake struck. I have no doubt Paul Farmer is there making a difference.
