Somehow funnier and more sad than This is Going to Hurt. I liked hearing more about Adam.

I’m always very torn with Kay. I dislike his mocking of patients or those who think differently to him, and his focus on the scatological aspects of life, but as someone who also works in the NHS my heart breaks a little for the experiences he’s had and the mental health difficulties he’s been left with. I also recognise the need for black humour…

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Part had me cackling, I especially enjoyed the running jokes of particitrousers and panini loving wolves (I promise it makes sense if you read it)

But yet again Adam has a way of spilling out all his deepest darkest truths and keeping his humour as dark as the subject matter. Open, honest, hilarious, I'll always have time for an Adam Kay book.

Actually had tears of laughter rolling down my face quite a few times whilst reading this book, but it’s also shocking to see what a healthcare system can do to a person. A genuine must-read

I loved ' This is going to Hurt' the book and more recently the BBC1 drama series and this felt like a prequel and a sequel to that. As there were stories from Medical school and his time as a doctor and how he adapted to leaving and the success of the first book. It had some funny anecdotes and had Adams humour throughout it but this felt in some ways a lot more personal. The story of his Eating Disorder, the miscarriage of his child, his grandparents dementia and his rape it was heartbreaking to read at some points. However, it is also so important as him opening up will hopefully help so many others and give those the courage to hopefully speak up. I liked how it told stories throughout the different time frames and how some were funny stories yet others were tragic which I really wasn't expecting.
