I started this book with a lot of expectations but unfortunately I didn't enjoyed as much as I was expecting to. In the beginning I was enjoying the story and the characters but then all of it started to get really confusing for me. In general this book, unfortunately, wasn't for me.
Thank you so much to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me this ARC for an honest review.

Play Dirty
Tempting SEALs: Triton, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: I’ve liked the author’s past works. .

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Netgalley
Dates Read: 3/16/24 - 3/19/24
Stars: DNF- No Rating
Narrator(s): Brianna Bronte

The Characters:

Poppy
Jack
Poppy’s brothers, Jack’s other team members

The Story:

At this point I am forcing myself to pick this up. Romantic Suspense with a second chance and a dash of kink is usually right up my alley but I cannot connect with these characters and their chemistry seems forced. I also don’t care for the narrator's male voice. I’ve fought the good fight and I'm giving up.

What did I just read? The storyline was so confusing. I had no idea what mission Jack was on and I had no idea what all of the AI talk was about. I was confused the whole time. The relationship between Poppy and Jack was just weird. He was an egotistical, controlling man. He treated her like she was property. The pet names he called her were very cringy. The book was also full of very vivid and descriptive sex scenes that I wasn't expecting. I felt that this storyline was a little overdone. I don't typically choose to read those types of books, so I wasn't expecting it to be so spicy.

I found the majority of this book well written. I felt like the beginning of the story felt a bit rushed and the latter and bit drawn out. The equalization of the story could be better.

A few icks….. Sugar baby as a pet name…..likely just me…..but none the less……ick! Secondly, him being 14 and her being 8 when they first meet. This inherently I know isn’t pedophilia but when he continues to discuss him being hers from the moment they met…….it gets real pedo real quick. She could have been 12 or closer in age but the gap at that age, I don’t think can be over come.

Romance + sci-fi? I didn't see that one coming... in the beginning, I was quite intrigued and ready to learn more about this AI bot. But the whole middle forgot about the AI and focused on repetitive attempts to kill Poppy... oh and sex, lots of sex. Which is absolutely fine by me. The steamy scenes were fabulous! Then, tada, we see the AI in the very end. All in all, it was a decent read, but nothing I'd read again, and I don't think I want to continue the series. Even if that epilogue piqued my curiosity.
