Thank you Netgalley for a free copy of this audiobook for a honest review.

Im not going to lie to you I kind of gave up on Elle after the last off campus book it just felt to repetitive and this books is a second chance romance but i cannot get past cooper and his behavior. The way he treated her and i get second chances if theres personal growth these two just always felt sooo toxic. I struggled to finish but i did like it. However this isnt a trope i think ill come back to.

I loved this book! At first, I found it a little heard to get into compared to the first book in the series it seemed to be a little choppier of a plot. But I was excited for Evans journey because he had quite the redemption for me in the second books.

I love Evans character he is fiercely loyal, funny, unfiltered, rough around the edges, easy on the eyes, and very charming. I love how he always can throw in such a casual crazy comment, and it feels so natural. He constantly had me laughing. I loved watching his love for Gen throughout the book grow and mature. The way he grows and shows how he wants to be a better man. This is the cliche can you turn a bad boy good? And the answer is yes. But also, no because though he chooses to grow up and make new path for himself, he is still the same Evan.

Gen really surprised me with how much I liked her. In the end of the first book and the begging of bad girl reputation she comes off very much as the villain of the story. But as it progressed, I found myself liking her over Evan. I really was rooting for her as she pushed herself to be the better version of herself.

I found myself losing interest mid-way through the book because the push and pull between Evan and Gen bored me honestly. It felt like they were beating a dead horse for a while, and I was just like be done or be together already. Which is probably on brand for their history, but I was so glad I picked the book back up! As soon as Evan started to play into the whole model citizen/changing for the better act I was IN! I liked the way that he started this as a way to show Gen he could be the guy she wanted but as he starts to make changes in his life it becomes for him. When he starts the big brother program it warmed my heart it seriously was just perfect and probably some of my favorite parts from the book. I loved seeing his soft side after you watch him go through some serious shit in Good Girl Complex.

I was really glad that the boy's mom came back into the story. Though their mom was trash in throughout their life and the whole money stealing in Good Girl Complex happens I felt so sad for them. After losing on parent to death and then losing their mom when they were still alive. Her progression into getting better, trying more, and reconnecting with her sons was a great redemption. I liked that not only was Evan able to reconnect with his mother, but Cooper starts to try as well. It also made me smile when his mom brought up the six senses of knowing Gen and Evan were meant to be along with Cooper and Mac.

I loved the family dynamic of Gen's big family. Having her protective older brothers and her sensitive dad. Their family really painted this picture for me and made me smile. Though we start the book off with her mom dying and her having no connection I am glad that they wrap up the book with her dad opening about his wife. It put a lot of things in perspective, and it made a lot of sense to me. I enjoyed the real talk about postpartum depression, the expectations on women to be mothers, and the guilt that can come to that.

At the beginning of the book, I was very against Evan and Gen's relationship because of the previous scars that were left behind and the initial messiness of it. But by halfway through the book, I was rooting for them to be end game. I think they understood each other really well and their chemistry was undeniable. When you think that they can only bring out the worst in each other they really bring out the best. They don't change for the wrong reasons, but they grow together. Also, I just love the whole ring pop situation and the way he calls her Fred.

All in all, would recommend this book and the series really looking forward to the next book. Elle Kennedey does it again!

Not as good as book #1.

I loved “Good Girl Complex”, the first in this series. This one, not so much. It was hard to get through this. All this talk about a toxic relationship, everyone trying to change and be a better person. It was annoying, not entertaining. Finally, saying I love you fixes all their problems. I’m on the fence about whether I’ll read book #3.
