I missed when this was massively trending back during covid but as much as it wasn’t an all time favourite I can admit the hype was for a reason. 

This tale follows the tale of Circe and essentially the stories of her life and the people she meets.  Which is shockingly a lot considering early in the book she gets herself exiled for life to an island.   

Weirdly poetic at times it had some beautiful quotes.

Madeline Miller evolves her craft with Circe in a way that is both a spiritual continuation of the Song of Achilles, while also being a completely independent narrative on its own. The pantheon and characters of Greek legend are all written very well, beginning as their one-note idealized selves, and turning into multi-faceted characters by the novel's end. A pleasure as always. 8/10.

The story was good but at some times I found it boring. It was really good to read about Greek mythology though even though some of the things they did were very gory. I prefer books with a plot and this was more character based but the writing was very nice.
