Madeline Miller has to stop writing Greek mythology- I physically cannot take it anymore--

This book would be great for fans of Ethel Cain

For a book claimed to be all about a strong female lead and all - this book can’t pass the Bechdel Test to save its life.  Otherwise.  Good story line, flows fast, and character growth is a major point to the story.

Such a fascinating story

I loved reading about Circe’s life, or rather Madeline Miller’s version of it. Miller has a wonderful writing style and weaves her retellings in a refreshing and captivating way. The story’s pace is very slow and it took me a while to get through the book but I still found myself thoroughly enjoying it. Although
I did have some grief with the choice of making Circe smash her stepson… they don’t share blood and he’s like 30 but it’s still weird to me…

I loved Circe’s humor, it comes up on rare occasions but they were very fun additions.
How she talks to her father at the end is truly wonderful such a girlboss

Solid 4 star book.
Very easy to read but the author's way with descriptions and words is so dreamlike and beautiful. I constantly related to the protagonist's actions and emotions. Character development is mainly focused on the lead, taking us through the many experiences of being a woman. From a child seeking approval of those around us, to finding your own voice and leading your own actions, as well as taking accountability of those actions.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Boring. And in the not so boring parts, I was confused. When I wasn’t confused I was weirded out or frustrated.

I couldn’t DNF because I had to see it through.

I wish there were more! Circe grew so much, yet down to her core, remained the Circe we were initially introduced to. It was a hard book to put down, even at the worst moments, the writing was captivating. I felt charmed by the writing, similar to how I felt gods and goddesses charm those around them.
