I was already thoroughly enjoying this book but then, about half way through, the author introduced sassy ronin guy and it was funny on top of everything else. Love this book and can't wait for the next one :)

I loved Kagawa's vampire series : The blood of Eden... LOVED IT !

Talon was okay (only read book 1 and I have the second to try and go one with it, same for the Iron Fey series)...

This one was alright ... lot's of name dropping from the different demon, yokai and other mythical creature. Lot's of "adventure" they go, they fight the leave ... I don't know it was slow and the only character I really enjoyed was Okame.

Not sure I will continue on with this series though ...

This was so dull and the main characters so stupid ;(

This book had a formulaic plot, which is not always a deal breaker for me, which was further hindered by the cringe inducing writing, the forced romance between the two main characters, and the lack of plot for around 1/2 of the novel.

Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I liked the structure of it and how the chapters from different character POVs worked. A lot of Japanese folklore was woven throughout, which I enjoyed reading. Some of the tropes were a little heavy-handed, but I liked the plot development and where the story was going at the end of this first book.

This was so much fun! If you have ever seen the anime Demon Slayer or played Persona 5, this felt like I was reading a potential episode of one of those. Lots of Japanese myth. I enjoyed it a lot!

In all fairness I only made it to page 75 so this review is more for myself.

I was intrigued by the first chapter but was way to confused and bored to continue to read further. The writing seemed like it was trying too hard to be complex and it seemed clumsy the way Japanese words were dropped in.

I got this from an Owlcrate and it was a fail for me.

I enjoyed the audio book cast for this! It was a really easy listen. I work while I listen and sometimes my job requires a lot of typing, so at moments I would get distracted and miss large chunks. If I had listened to this while not being distracted I probably would have rated this much higher. Loved the characters!
