Reviewed both books in one review:
This duology was surprisingly great.
The story is told from the perspective of only the MMC. Lucian is a smol and shy, sheltered monk. He’s got some cool magical abilities and a heart of gold.
The FMC is much larger than him, and she’s an impressive warrior who always has her biceps on display. She’s also extremely kind and provides amazing insight to MMC as he embarks upon one of the greatest character development arcs I’ve read in a fantasy romance story.
These two characters are compelling on their own, but their relationship is really wonderful. It’s unlike any other romance I’ve read before- it was very sweet. It also eventually was VERY spicy, and the journey to get there was enjoyable.
The side characters were memorable, lovable, and diverse, there are endearing moments with animals. (Always a plus)
I smiled a lot while reading this, and appreciated the underlying themes addressing the trauma of religious fundamentalism and access to healthcare.
I read enough fantasy romance that they start to run together after awhile, but this cozy gender role-reversal story will stick with me for a long time.

This was as good as the first and a great conclusion to the duology. I loved the new characters that were introduced and the rest that were expended on. The resolution left me in tears in a happy way. I wish this author had more books out there.

Appreciate the good communication, respect, and thoughtfulness between the main characters. Love a competent, strong, dominant FMC. At times, gets in its own way with politically correct language. Nice that the story is inclusive, but it took me out of the world.
3.5* there's nothing entirely wrong with the book. It's fine. The sex scenes are really good. The plot is predictable. The end is very drawn out and as much as the rest will hire suspension of disbelief the end requires kind of even more. I think my biggest problem is that it just doesn't live up to the first book which was so so excellent. But it's still a fun little adventure and a nice ending for Lucian and Glory.
The sex scenes are overpowering the plot by far. Lucian not voicing his desires is too close to a miscommunication trope for me. Really getting tired of every sentence being about Lucian lusting after Glory. Not for me!
