My first Grisham book and I have to say, it was alright. Nothing spectacular. It was sufficiently interesting to be read at a decent pace.

Surprisingly, at least to me, was the fact that the book followed more than the judges in prison. It offered a nice change of pace. After all, how much can be written about the days of inmates in a boring jail?

The ending was amusing, although I thought for certain that something else was going to happen.

There is enough legal mumbo-jumbo and politics to be classified as a political thriller, but I wouldn't call it a thriller. It's just fiction. Not thrilling in the least.

favorite parts that don't fit in the lil update boxes:
Spoiler
"From now on, you get the same piece we do. One fourth."
"No way."
"Then you're fired."
"You can't fire me."
"I just did. What, you think we can't find another crooked lawyer to run mail for us?"
"I know too much," Trevor said, his cheeks flashing pink and his tongue suddenly parched.
"Don't overestimated yourself. You're not that valuable."
"Yes I am. I know everything that's going on here."
"And so do we, hotshot. Difference is, we're already in jail. You're the one with the most to lose. You play hardball with me and you'll be sittin on this side of the table."
slow-paced

This was the first John Grisham book I ever read.

It was chosen as our book club pick. I'd seen all the Grisham movies made from his novels, so I felt reading one of his books was an excellent prospect.
I think when all of us got together to talk that night at book club it went something like, "Yea, good book." - "Yes, I enjoyed reading it." But it wasn't really discussion inducing.

So I say, great read - but for a ladies book club, not so much.

Good book again when is the movie comming out?

I don't really know what to think about this book. It's not Grisham's best but it's definitely not his worst either. I feel like he could have done so much better with the story too.

I will probably add more to this review in the coming days so stay tuned folks.

Good book. Was a little slow starting, but once it did, I was hooked. Gotta love those sleazy lawyers.

Didn’t like it. Didn’t finish it.

Thought this was a great Grisham book, though a bit predictable, it was well-written, suspense-driven, fast-paced, a book that kept my interest and made me want to read more.
