I'm very sorry to admit, but I didn't see the beauty in this book. Aside of the rather uninteresting "a day in the life of" accounts of the main characters passing through time, nothing really happened through the whole story... And then the main character died. I just fail to see the point the book. I can't say it was boring, but it was very difficult and a drag to read. And it is beautifully written.

Lundberg on todella taitava ihmisten kuvaaja. Monan hahmon kautta nousi pintaan todella monia teemoja: tunteiden patoamista ja ihmisten etäällä pitämistä, tuon ajan kasvatustyyli (kurilla, sillä kehuista lapsi menee pilalle), naisten pyörittämä koti ja perhe, väsymys joka purkautuu lapsiin... Lakkaamaton tarve tehdä. Suomen menneisyys oli vahvasti läsnä.
