Okay…. what is this ending? I want to read the second volume right now ! I’m a big fan of stories that touches merlin the enchanter, Excalibur and his knight Arthur. This reading was incredible, I was immersed in the universe from beginning to end. I loved this first volume so much that I slowed down my reading to keep the characters and the universe with me even longer. I look forward to reading more..

I was really enjoying it until the last 50 pages, and I only feel compelled to read the sequel to see if my ship goes canon.

You know, it was slow going and trope-y and predictable……until it wasn’t! Now I need closure and need to read the next couple. Other series was better, but at least there some depth to the characters.

At first I was confused , but as I read on I became more aware. The books plot is truly amazing and I can not wait for the next book to come.

The plot of this book is what kept me interested. Not the biggest fan of the romance but it is intriguing to read and interesting how the Arthur legend is presented.

As a retelling of the Arthurian Legends, The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White asks the question: what would happen if Guinevere were a plant to keep Arthur safe, and not the traditional beautiful maiden? Merlin has charged Guinevere, his daughter, with keeping the new king safe as he rebuilds Camelot in his new image. But even though Guinevere has been training for this under her father for this, not everything is as it seems. With dangers lurking around every corner and more mysteries coming for than answers Guinevere must find out what she is protecting Arther against before it’s too late.

Review
Beware ye, there are spoilers ahead. But the TL:DR is I recommend this book if you’re into the Arthurian Legends and are into Magic YA.

There have not been as many book retellings of the Arthurian legends of late. The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White definitely scratched that itch. While it does not follow the traditional beats of the Guinevere / Arthur story, it has the potential to be more interesting. Having a gender bender Lancelot is exciting and well done. I am so happy that Guinevere herself is powerful and as the main character as well.

While it took me a while to get into the book, I was hooked by the end. This book is definitely set up for further books as I left with more questions than answers. The biggest questions on my mind after reading were – what the deal was with Merlin? Who is Guinevere, really? Guinevere does not seem aware of how odd her backstory is, which leads to more questions on my part. I will be reading the next one as soon as it’s out. How could I stay away?

loved this!! very good
