I was absolutely loving this book… but I’m mad at the ending. Only reason it’s not getting 4 stars

God, the main female character annoyed the hell out of me. She’s so immature and avoidant of her feelings (she’s always just running away), that’s it’s painful to see her sabotage herself over and over. If she had had two honest conversations, this book would have been a short story.  Also, my least favorite tropes - miscommunication (or no communication), teenage first love, and love triangle (kinda).

I hate books where lack of communication drives a plotline, but I was on a long drive, so.....
The MFC, Maggie, is so immature and just rather ugh. I skimmed parts beyond where I officially stopped, since it was the only audiobook I had and still had 5 more hours of road time, but I just couldn't. So I did something I never do: went to what I thought was the epilogue, thinking it might leave me with a nice HEA/HFN, even though I didn't care, but WTF??? lyrics, um, no. Definitely didn't work.  I think the reason reviewers comment that the time shifts were confusing is because Maggie never matures.
