I read a review online (which I forgot from what website) that this book literally changed his/her view of life, and I strongly agree with that. This book made me view life in a different meaning.
What would you do when you know you are dying?
For me, of course, I will do anything on my bucket list. Probably not everything but anything that is possible to achieve before you are dying on your bed.
Yamaguchi Sakura live her last moment of her life with her friend from school. A friend who I don’t know his name but same as a writer. The meeting was definitely not arranged by them, but by fate. They think that Sakura loved about her friend was that this [Classmate Who Know My Secret]-kun do not treat her with pity, but same as usual. And I totally understand Sakura’s thought. But, [Classmate I Can Get Along With] started to change his view of life and follow her wish. He thought that he had a time with her for a year (at the beginning) and for half of the year (when her health started to decline). But he never thought that he lost the last half year for something that was beyond everyone’s wish. And funny, the cause of her death was not from her health problem, but something that had been mentioned at the beginning of the book. And I never expect that. So does [???].
It’s hurt. Especially when he read Sakura’s journal ‘Living with Dying’. She was scared, but she never show it. And for that, I think Sakura was very strong. And she influences [Boy I’m Getting along With] to view his life differently. By that, I also view Shiga Haruki as a strong person as well. He cried for her unexpected death, but I think he finally can move on when he knew Sakura managed to read his last message for her. The message reveals how important Sakura is to Haruki.

It's basically alright, maybe a little worse, wouldn't really recommend to anyone. The set up is fine but how it closes is a bit cheap.

SpoilerThe ending would have been more convincing had the girl's own world explored a bit more. Show don't just tell basically.

read this off jisung’s recommendation! very lovely book that focuses on celebrating life and looking forward not back. i really liked how you don’t learn the main characters name until the end and how he’s referred to instead, very interesting touch
