I love the movie adaptation so much and thought I'd try the book. Although some parts loiter too long in how men view our main cast of women, I was still moved by many of the passages. The novel has such a sweeping nature to it. You pass from one POV to another and the malaise builds and builds until it releases.

In the interest of not spoiling a single bit about this novel, I will keep this short and sweet:
As both an avid and fervent reader, and an English major, I have read enough books to make it so nothing truly surprises me anymore.
So when I tell you that the twist of this book BLEW MY FREAKING MIND, know that it was well-crafted, well-executed and emotionally explosive.
I can't wait to read this again.

One of the most masterful books I've ever read. Devastatingly deep exploration of depression, trauma, hope, literature, femininity, melancholy, longing for another life and living the one you have. On top of that - a loving and creative tribute to Virginia Woolf.
