I loved The Winner's Curse more than I thought I would! I especially enjoyed the tension and angst between Kestrel and Arin.
The writing was very straight forward which made it a quick and easy read! However, I feel like the characters lacked depth because of this. I hope we explore them a bit more in the following books! Can't wait to read them!

I have read and enjoyed this - but I have also seen reviews about how badly slavery and the atrocities are handled in the story, and I find myself agreeing with them. So I'm taking away a star for this specifically.
So if you know a lot about history and slavery, don't read this. If you're a casual fantasy reader who doesn't care if slavery is glossed over - go for it.
