This is a 2 star simply because I finished it and didn’t feel immense anger, just disappointment. TSP was just so bland, Maggie – our FMC – was poorly written and felt one dimensional, we know nothing about her apart from she is poor,
her parents were murdered meaning she is the legal guardian of her siblings
, she was a journalism student and works in a hotel there wasn’t much we knew about her personality and interests.

I also felt there was no romance (much less friendship) nor a build up to it between Maggie & Viktor, the princely mmc, it felt purely based on lust evident by the fact they never really did much talking and getting to know each other (unless it was about
their relatives traumatic deaths
and that is not great grounds to know a person imo) apart from their first date and the 3 days they spent in hollywood only for that to just be then getting to know eachother in the biblical sense and suddenly they are both in love and Viktor wants her to be a princess, no training, no history lessons just: random chick I’ve know for 2 weeks meet my mum and dad - the King and Queen of Sweden, you are to be princess now because I like being inside you, teach you some royal protocols and about my country so you don’t get attack for being uncouth?? no lets bone!!

What I liked:
  • Viktor’s romantic heart, OMG he was the absolute star of this book. He was soo poetic and romantic and protective. He had so many adorable moments.
  • Mental health, this book had a really amazing portrayal of mental health from a bunch of different characters. So that was refreshing.
  • The kiddos, Callum especially was so much fun in the story and added a lot of humor.
What I didn’t like:
  • The journalist thing, I know it’s a Roman Holiday retelling but I REALLY hate journalist storylines. It’s unbearable to me. Thankfully it became a nonissue after a bit in the beginning. I was really close to not finishing because of that.
