An enjoyable mystery with some solid characters. And the setting was distinct and woven throughout the storyline. Overall, I liked this! But I would also say it was just sort of middling—not much was memorable or life-changing. A good beach read for sure, but a very sad ending.

This was very good. Jane Harper paints such a precise, compelling picture. You can feel the dry heat and taste the desperation. All the characters and their flaws felt real and raw. I did not see the ending coming which is always nice

This was a great character book but not a great mystery novel. I really enjoyed it but the mystery was very drawn out and there wasn't really any way to put the pieces together until they were given to you.
