While Carolyn Nowak has done a number of work-for-hire stints (Buffy, etc.), her solo indie work has rapidly grown into some of the best English-language comics currently going (just check out the comics collected in her incredible solo book Girl Town). Her new Eisner-nominated single-issue comic, No Better Words, is erotic, sweet, and most shocking of all, very, very smart. Its final two pages are some of the most charged words I have ever read about what it feels like to fall hopelessly, helplessly, and passionately for another person.
