What a great book on Mythology! I was surprised to learn that she wrote this back in 1942 when she was in her 60's. It has all the classics and who they were written by (mostly poets such as Ovid, Pindar, Virgil, etc) and when each of the works was most likely written. It solved the question of why Odysseus is sometimes called Ulysses and I appreciated the information regarding the Iliad and the Odyssey. It even has in the end each mythology in alphabetical order and a brief chapter on Norse mythology. After reading Circe, Achilles, and other books on Mythology it was nice to get a deeper background on how each of these stories originated, even though it is more fun to read those versions ;) I did listen to it on Audible. After seeing some of the pictures of the book I think it would have been nice to have the beautifully illustrated hardback version. And it should be noted since it's not always the case, that this book was a PG version of mythology.
Amazing retelling of Greek mythical tales and the historical context where they originate from.

It was for school and we only read like 2 stories from it
I love, love, love mythology and Edith Hamilton did a great job putting everything together in an orderly, understandable fashion.
