So, I would be thrilled if Stengl could continue to write The Tales of Goldstone Wood indefinitely. There is so much depth and history to this world, that I don't mind that it is not in chronological order. The themes are so real and relevant, without becoming preachy.

Dragonwitch is certainly not the least of these. The idea of the Smallman is perhaps the most sound metaphor for our world yet. Often I feel like the Smallman, wondering how I can be used for anything because I do not meet some idea of perfection.

The theme and brilliance would have made me rate this 5 stars, if not for a little disappointment. Sir Eanrin has come to be my favorite character in this series, but when Mouse called him a monster in this book ( The pet name Felix gave him in Heartless) she was right. In this book, he seemed to be truly nasty to the other characters. While he has never really been nice, he has not been so mean before.

Don't be deceived, however, the rest of the characters still make this worth reading and Sir Eanrin did have his redeeming moments of humor and guidance. Leta has become one of my favorites and I hope to see her in the future.

I love this SO much. It's packed with so much to learn from... I love how Leta helps Florien become the man that he should be, and he gives her that push she needs to learn how to be her own person. It's not a typical Oh-I'm-Rebelious-So-I'm-Going-To-Blame-People-&-Think-I-Know-Best type of story. And then there's the amazing self-sacrifice theme... and the deep struggle of the Dragonwitch... ugh, it's so perfect. The writing style is amazing as always, and the page count is always so neat, I don't know how she does that.

Oh my. The best one so far. The ending gave me terrific chills and all the right feels the ending of a book should give. The characters were all wonderful individually and worked well together as a group. It taught me truths, made me laugh and cry, made me think and was so complex and rich and layered. Eanrin was so perfect in this book. His character continues to grow so wonderfully. The DragonWitch's story made me cry. The theme of all the different loves made my heart break. Etanun's story made me sad. The way love wasn't limited by physical characteristics or mistakes was how love should be. I can't decide if I want to stay with these characters or go back to Rose Red! All I can say is well done, Stengl.

This series is excellent. The allegorical aspects are not overbearing, but still meaningful and have the intended effect.

I greatly enjoyed this book. It has deep characters, beautiful prose, a gripping story, masterful fantasy elements, and well-handled allegorical themes. It is rare to find a Christian fantasy book with either good storytelling or good writing. It is spectacular to find a book with both, and I eagerly anticipate the other books the author is writing for this series.

I love this series. Just when I think one book is my favorite, I read the next and it becomes my new favorite! I love the character dynamics and interactions with one another. The world-building is simply amazing. Why has no one turned these into movies yet!?
