I love being back in the Dakonian Alien Mail Order Brides world. In this series, Dakonians come to Earth to look for mates, as they have very few women left on their planet after an asteroid hit and released a virus that affected females more than males. In Kord, Barb Quintain, who has had small parts in previous books, gets to find love. I like Barb. She’s the owner of Barbie Q’s Restaurant. She’s a Dolly Parton type, where her hair and breasts are not real. But, also like Dolly, she’s very sweet and loving on the inside.

Barb had a hard life growing up. Her parents weren’t great, to say the least. They were both alcoholics. They screamed and fought with each other all the time. Needless to say, that didn’t endear Barb to getting into a long-term relationship. She was quick to cut things off when things started to get too serious.

Kord came to Earth with his brother, Braxx (who is the hero of the next book in the series). Braxx filled out the forms for both of them. He put down things that he thought women would be interested in, instead of filling out the forms with honesty. Needless to say, when you boast about your wealth (which means nothing to the Dakonians, but they have a lot from the ore on their planet, which is a great power source on Earth), you’re going to attract women who are interested in money. Kord didn’t think he would ever find his mate, until his most recent date dumped him on the way to their dinner at Barbie Q’s (she didn’t like barbeque, so he was much better off ending the date there anyway. Who doesn’t like BBQ, unless your vegetarian, which was not this woman’s issue). Anyway, that’s how he meets Barb.

I had a really great time with this story. Again, I really enjoyed the characters. And I liked seeing Barb work through her issues on relationships and her family. She’s got some great friends around her too. It has made me very eager to read Braxx’s story, especially since we see who his heroine will be at the end of this book.

**I'd like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

When Kord comes to Earth he never imagined that he would find his mate. Barb has her hands full with running her restaurant and is not looking for a man. Yet there is something about Kord that pulls at her. Their story is a cute read. Barb is a strong and brash woman who hides behind her shields so she will not get hurt. Kord is a man who is ready to do whatever it takes to prove to Barb that they fit together and are meant to be. I enjoyed seeing the way their relationship grew into something more. The two are a cute couple it was nice to see them work towards a happy ending. Barb and Kord are fun together and had me laughing out loud at times and the sweetness at others. This is a good addition to this series, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. I just didn't 'get' Barb. Kord was fine... but, again, he didn't feel as 'there' as many of the other Dakonians...

Barb thought being the best restaurant in town was the way to happiness. Little did she know it's actually in a huking, horned, alien! Barbie Q’s was busy before she got railroaded into hiring Kord. She set a strict no fraternising policy, so she's be a total hypocrite if she gave in to all the fiery chemisty Kord is throwing her way.

She learned a long time ago to rely on herself and to fake it till she could make it. Kord seems to see right through the blonde haired, bimbo, Texan Pageant girl facade, all the way to the vulnerable female underneath.

I loved Kord's total naivety at the "gold diggers"! LOL. Kord has some prodding by her staff into stepping into her HEA. Barb's back story is heartbreaking and I loved the way she rose above her past to make her own future.

3.5 I feel like a while section was missing. From when she said she’d date him till they hooked up in the office. It’s like time jumped forward. This couple didn’t communicate well at all. It was still sweet.
