What a great start to a new series! This one had twists and mysteries that I couldn't figure out fully and I love that. I was not expecting the reason that she disappeared or who was behind it at all and never knew what was going to happen next with it everything. I loved their first meeting so much! The ending was perfect and I can't wait for the next one to see how the story unfolds.

Edith is very different. She wants proof before she does anything and isn't afraid of anything. I loved her from the start because she always seemed to have a plan and she spoke her mind. She also thought of others first even when she was in danger.

Triston will do anything for his sisters even when it mixes with his past. His scandal was not one I expected and it explained a lot. I loved him right away because of how he was with his sisters and that he was a quick thinker.

I really would have enjoyed this if it had been about 100 pages longer. As it stands it was cute but the romance needed a lot more time and the main conflict happened too fast.

The story and characters need developing. It reads more like a novella imo. But it’s not terrible. Just feel like it needs fleshing out.

My biggest issue is that there were certain writing peeves that distracted me from the story.

Examples:
Lady tilda Abercorn —> her grace Tilda…. A duchess is always “her grace” not “lady…”

Could NOT care less. This was used incorrectly twice.

Marquis —> marquess. Most British marquesses are marquess unless they are Scottish. Just use marquess.

Pockets on a dress in 1800s?

“Needs must”. OMG. This one drove me crazy. Was the author trying to make it sound old? Well, it didn’t work as a hat was the only “old way” of writing. It was so distracting.

Just in general, it needs major editing and development. Oh. And Google. Google is your friend.

The disappearance of Lady Edith was my first historical romance read, so I was pretty excited to read it and I have to admit that my initial excitement was well paid off and this book didn't disappoint me even a bit.

Lady Edith is a headstrong woman, determined, sensible and brave. She has set out along with her friends to find out whether her childhood friend Tilda's newly wed husband was responsible for Tilda's mysterious death on her wedding night. I loved Lady Edith's character right from the beginning. Her character is really well built and absolutely likeable.

Next coming to the man who stole Lady Edith's heart. He is Lord Torrington alias Triston, Marquis' son, tall, handsome and strong. He is good at heart and definitely loved Lady Edith a lot, and didn't think twice about endangering himself to save Lady Edith. Lord Torrington is another very likeable character.
"He’d wage war against a fire-breathing dragon to make certain she was unharmed. And Triston would lay down his own life to make bloody certain Edith lived a life full of happiness and love."

The mystery of this book is the disappearance of Lady Edith and not the death of Tilda. Though it was not the mystery that I had expected when I read the blurb but still this mystery hooked me completely. The last part of the novel totally kept me at the edge of my seat and I could not keep the book down

The romance between Torrington and Edith was sweet but the mystery in this book became a highlight for me rather than the romance.

Though the book has a HEA for the main couple but it doesn't reveal the person who murdered Tilda, so that's a cliffhanger. Now, I have to wait for the next installments of the Undaunted Debutantes Series to know more about Tilda's death. But in spite of the cliffhanger I found The Disappearance of Lady Edith to be quite a enjoyable read.

If you are a fan of historical romance mixed with mystery then you would definitely like The Disappearance of Lady Edith.
