Max is a transgender kid learning how to navigate school, friends, and gender identity! I liked that Max learns things about what it means to be a girl or a boy through his own understandings of gender and he learns along with the reader.

I've read Kyle Lukoff's middle grade books and loved them to pieces. I'm happy to say I adored this picture book as well. I love how it demonstrates that there's no one way to be any gender and that being a certain gender doesn't have anything to do with what a person does or finds interesting.

I wish I had this book when I was a younger kid. I know it will do wonders for younger trans kids <3

This book does a pretty good job! For children who already have a sense of gender expectations, this book explains the concept of being transgender well.

This is such an unabashedly honest and adorable book about a transgender child.

Excellent way to introduce the concepts around being transgender. Highly recommended for all schools and libraries. For grades K & up.
