in general i enjoyed reading this and would recommend it to anyone interested!!
I do wish the stories were a bit more detailed, but the art was beautiful.
I'm not that much of a comics guy, much as I cut my teeth on classics like Peanuts, Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Bloom County, and Calvin & Hobbes. So the brilliance of the artwork in Moonshot hit me hard. Some of this artwork could and should be hanging on the walls of museums. Combined with strong Indigenous storytelling with something of a First Nations focus and something of a focus on stories from time immemorial (though of course also set in a range of presents and futures), this makes for an excellent book. I can easily see how and why this one has worked for some of my friends and colleagues in their Native lit and Native American and Indigenous studies classes.

I decided to try the ebook version of this anthology. It is very well made and the artwork looks great on screen. I enjoyed it enough that I immediately bought volumes 2 and 3. Like any anthology, there are hits and misses and yours will be likely be different than mine, but there is a little something for everyone here, from traditional Indigenous stories that have a more historical look to traditional stories given a sci-fi/fantasy/horror twist. Some scenes might be a little scary for the youngest readers.

I would recommend this primarily for young kids who you want to introduce Native American mythology to. The art is nice but the writing is pretty basic. When I was a kid I remember there was an illustrated book of tall tales (Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill, etc.) that I thought was awesome. I'm sure if I found that book now I'd think it was pretty basic, too.
So yeah, decent intro to indigenous stories for kids. Everyone else, not so much. I rated it accordingly, for odd typos and stuff.

lots of gorgeous and varied art! I wasn’t able to get invested in the stories since they were so very short, but I appreciated what narrative they did have and the cultural meaning.
Gorgeous and useful and moving. Very much looking forward to Volume 2.

this was a great anthology of comics and short stories. I loved the concept of seeing/reading these different stories by indigenous authors and artists.
I can't wait to read the next volume.
The only thing i didn't like which is not a bad thing (as it showed the authors and artists we doing a good job) was sometimes I wish the stories were expanded upon, I just wanted more, or to know more about the lore and culture they were about.
I would definitely recommend this volume, it was a great read and i enjoyed the art work.
