I really enjoyed the book and especially how the author tied all the loose ends together at the end. I thought it was easy to identify with and pretty easy to follow. Good summer beach read!

This was not hard to read — it was a return to the familiar, comforting and fun to read. A vacation read for people like me; not too challenging, “cool” and nostalgic for my NY days and Brooklyn fantasies. NOT about the band Modern Lovers, but about a fictional college band and the members’ grown-up lives.

Man the stakes in this book were soooo low. Not a single likable character except maybe Jane and mostly because of her food. (Actually I liked Zoe and Ruby most of the time. Just hated all of the Marxes though.) a very depressing portrayal of marriage, friendship, even neighborhood communities. But I do think Emma Straub strings a good sentence together and the character of Naomi was amusing. The plot was terrible and nonexistent though. Ugh.

I always love Emma Straub’s writing, so this was a pleasant character study about love and commitment and contentment. I could have used a tad more plot in this one, but the characters were interesting and I always love a New York City setting!

Quick fun, read! Highly recommend! More like 4.5 stars. Would definitely read more by this author (any recommendations?!)

Exactly what I was looking for and fun topics--some family drama, college feminist band, restauranteurs in NY...

It was cute.
I think I picked this book when I was different. Nevertheless, I did enjoy it.

I’ve never liked any of her books, idk why I thought this one would be any different. Made me a little depressed about life but ig maybe that’s the point?
