I thought this was a great leap forward for Lia in terms of sophistication and complexity in her storytelling. I like her previous work, but it isn't really my type of thing. For me, this has more depth and complexity, and hence is far more satisfying. The book deals a lot with Lia's spirituality and her inquisitiveness about religion, which I found really fascinating, particularly as it was coupled with her quirky humour. I think ultimately that's what I really liked in this book - serious subjects related through Lia's whimsical viewpoint.

Surprisingly moving and effective graphic novel about the quest for more than a relationship but meaning and purpose in life. It asks the questions and has great moments and it doesn't always lead where you would expect it to. A real interesting and engaging read.

Lia's four-part series, Fluffy, was really my gateway drug into graphic novels. I still remember stumbling across the first volume in Chicago Comics many years ago and just being blown away by both its sweetness and strangeness. So, I check in on Simone Lia from time to time, and found this volume. Although it is a departure from Fluffy, this story shares some of both Fluffy's innocence and sadness. The overtly religious themes may put off some, but I love Lia's illustrations, and she is a wonderful storyteller. I look forward to whatever she does next.

I picked up this book because I liked the back cover and wanted to give it a try. I have to say I’m glad I did. I found this book funny in a quirky introverted kind of way. A memoir, Lia writes about her travels and adventures to find a husband. She is set on finding a husband because she feels like it’s time she gets married and moves on to that part of her life, but she continuously has a discussion with herself about what God wants for her.
I like the way she puts what she’s thinking into pictures. That format was really effective for the themes in this book.
The ending was somewhat disappointing for me. I don’t want to give it away, but let’s just say it didn’t feel like there was any kind of conclusion.
