Lots of sad in this one. NOT what I like in my Kristan Higgins indulgences.

Started this for a romance challenge in February. I used to read this author when I was much younger, and now I remember why I stopped. Phrases such as oh crotch and croch crotch crotch and holy testicle Tuesday are used regularly (at least twice per chapter). The premise was unrealistic and over the top.

a lovely book that i both cried and laughed to. it was so fun and heartwarming watching these two fall back in love, knowing that they had never stopped. such a sweet book. the reason it’s not a five start read is because i don’t do angst too well and this book was full of it.  it tends to stress me out and causes me to skip through my reads but i managed through it just because i wanted to see how their story played out. and i’m glad i did.

This is my first read by Miss Higgins. I thought this book is about Christian romance. To my surprise, I like this book very much. The topic of second chance romance is being brought by Miss Higgins in such funny and warm story.

Harper and Nick got married when they were very young. Just because they are in love. During their short marriage, like many other young couple, they struggle with job, loneliness, different expectation and emotional baggage that came with married so young. They ended in divorce. Harper grew skeptic and became a divorce lawyer. Nick meanwhile focusing on his career and started his own architect business. Both of them met again 12 years later on their sibling wedding.

Miss Higgins breaks down this second chance romance one by one by road trip. I experienced with both Nick and Harper their feeling toward each other. Their resentment and the real reason behind their divorce. Nick is always an optimist and acts on impulse, never stop loving Harper. While Harper skeptic behavior put their romance in more realistic check list.

What I love about this book is how Miss Higgins brings humor on her story. Her humor manages to make me smile and laugh.
Wonderful book.

I laughed. I cried. I waned to slap Harper, and I wanted Nick to wake up and smell the coffee. In short, I loved this book. It had every element I could've wanted. And despite my occasional frustration with our heroine and her apparent inability to connect emotionally with anyone, the resolution is that much sweeter when it finally happens.
