3.5 Mind bending book that explores a world free of climate change & major world issues. It overlaps between dystopian and utopian. It begs the question what is our purpose if money is not a factor & having the power to be whatever you want without death?
It is not simply a utopia or dystopia.
It is not simply a utopia or dystopia.

This book was a weird one; the concepts of the plot were very abstract, but I still found the main character to be incredibly human and relatable. She deals with grief and sadness and existentialism in the most human way. She clearly feels disconnected from those around her. This book requires the reader to be a bit uncomfortable and leave them scratching their heads, but I think the characters are worth it.

a quick read, but an awkward length. felt like a short story that had been expanded to novel length but still needed a little more to justify being a novel. easy to sympathize with the protagonist but the conclusion was a little lackluster. i liked that it was a contemporary queer sci-fi novel that just was those things & wasn’t obnoxiously self-congratulatory about it, which is a major problem in a lot of the more “inclusive” novels coming out.

This book had a fun concept and cool world building. But everything felt so rushed and everything was just plainly laid out for you. I felt no parts in the book will really stick in my memory unfortunately. I'm sure some of my dislike is just from personal taste so that's why I'm giving it a little higher because it is overall a quick and fun read!
