I seem to be in the habit of reading #2 books.
Anyway, this novel was very enjoyable.
I'm fairly certain that there are some historical inaccuracies or at least implausibilities, but this novel is historical fiction, not a non-fiction history text so that didn't bother me at all.
I'm fascinated by the Tudor court as it's a period that I have researched a little for recreation purposes. Coming from this context, I found this novel particularly interesting in its depictions of the day-to-day life of Tudor women. Super interesting and surprisingly engaging even though doing a lot of that stuff myself would probably bore me to death...
I definitely recommend this novel to fans of historical fiction and fans of the Tudor period, but if you're a stickler history then definitely read it with a grain of salt.

04/27/08 I know everyone loves this book. And I am only 120 pages into it, but so far I'm not really into it. One of my friends reminded me of something Barbara Bush said (paraphrased)"If you get 100 pages into a book, and you have not bought into it, put it down. Life is too short."
04/28/08 Ok. I read 100 more pages last night. I am afraid that I have hit the point of no return. I am still not really buying into the story, but now I need to at least see where it is going. Just 400 or so more pages.

This book was very well-written and extremely interesting. I am a big fan of historical fiction and love reading anything about the King Henry VIII era. I liked it a lot.
The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is that it felt a little long-winded and I found myself having difficulty keeping with it until the very end.

This was enjoyable - feels like a good history book but only 4 stars for all the made up stuff - I still really enjoyed it and will probably read more by her.
