A very cute book containing mythology, popular media, and fun activities, ranging in topic from spells and illusions to predicting the future. A fun book for children interested in wizardary.

What a cute little book! I got this from my father when I was just starting off on my journey as a reader, and when I found it again in my basement I remembered loving it as a kid.

Caroline Tiger does such a good job of presenting a bit of history of wizardry to young readers while also teaching important, subtle lessons about finding your zen and your own space (here articulated as a 'magic circle'). As a kid, I loved looking around the backyard for the perfect spot to sit and be a wizard, and testing out all manner of 'wands'. Some of the science-y 'spells' are quite fun and really do work which is again, a really subtle way to set kids on the path to being interested in science while still fostering the imagination peculiar to children that we adults so envy.

Heck, even as an adult re-reading this years and years later I found myself working over my backyard in my mind for the perfect spot for my magic circle, and I may well make a 'dream pillow' for myself.

Very inclusive and charming--I'd definitely consider this 'required reading' for any budding wizard =)
