Don't let the less than spectacular reception to the Golden Compass movie scare you off. This is required reading for sci-fi fantasy fans.

I don’t know what to think now that it’s over. It feels good to have made it through, but also I didn’t want it to end. I’ve enjoyed it immensely!

A more in-depth review coming soon ✨

The. Ending. Left. Me. Empty. This book was a big roller coaster for me, sometimes I felt a little bit confused by the descriptions of things, but overall I loved it. It truly felt like I was on the journey with Lyra. But man, the plot ending... I so felt with Lyra and Will, I knew what was NEEDED to happen, but ahhghghgh... Really recommend this book. It was an amazing journey and I enjoyed every second of it.

I really enjoyed this collection. Some parts in the third book didn't interest me as much but I still enjoyed the characters, the writing and the story. I loved following young characters and watching them grow up and learn how to deal with the things that are thrown their way.

Hands down my favorite fantasy ever written. It just gets better and better as it goes on and more and more complex.

I had read The Golden Compass years ago, but just want interested enough to continue with the series. I received this book of all three, and was determined to try again. Again, I read The Golden Compass, and enjoyed it well enough, but I just don't care enough to put the energy in to figuring out what's going on now that I'm halfway through The Subtle Knife. Pullman has spoken about making this series anti- Church, which comes through clearly. Unfortunately, he doesn't balance that by making women or minority groups anything more than stereotypes, which I found disappointing.

I spent at least three chapters reading about a spoiled brat running wild and adults letting her run willy nilly. I'm not seeing the magic, here.
