Price had me from page one with this book, and never bogged me down in the science. Instead, he gave me characters to root for in an intense journey across an America that I both loved and wanted to throttle at the same time. I found his storytelling crazy good in the way he could pull me into deep point of view, while telling it from omniscient third person. Price can head hop like a boss!

disjointed writing; everyone's narration and dialogue regardless of age or character is cocky-verbose-and-intellectual-but-actually-also-I-hate-myself-wah-arent-I-pathetic-but-everyone-likes-me-anyway-but-they-just-dont-know-any-better-:/

I challenge anyone to read those first few chapters and not get hooked. Great opening and throughout, a fascinating & unique take on the time travel trope.

I didn't like that the book isn't tagged as YA, but I feel like it is. Well-written YA, like if it was nudged just a teensy bit on the vocabulary and grammar, and didn't lean so heavily on non-plot related superficiality (everyone was beautiful except the 28 year old video-gamer that threw his life away) and a smattering of puppy love, I would have enjoyed it more. I did get into the characters, even if the characterization flirted with the unrealistic. David was my favorite character, and for a sad while I thought this author was going to go all GRR Martin on David's ass.

That audiobook performer, too, was really good. Going from the voice of an Aussie teen braniac to a seductive actress to a New York Jewish geek must have been tough, but he made it seem easy since it was done flawlessly.

I don't know, something about this book was more irritating than enjoyable, and that's weird. It's firmly in a genre that I enjoy, and the plot/story is interesting, but I'm just...not a huge fan of this.

Maybe it's because there's so much going on that I never felt like I had a good grasp on the story, or even the characters. I mean, there _is_ a lot going on with them, and maybe the intention is to make me, as the reader, feel the characters confusion and desperation. If so, then that works well, but I don't really like reading a whole book in that constant state.

Idk, maybe give it a try? I didn't hate it, and I read the whole thing, but I'm not sure I'd read a sequel.

I had checked this out when it first came out but never got to it.

It's a good read. With this one the interest is in the time-travel/alternate worlds approach Price came up with. It's not the characters - they are, for the most part, completely vacuous. I couldn't keep the sisters straight. While Price does the science behind Science Fiction well he left a lot to be desired with the characters. I know the bad guy is well-written. It's just the good guys I don't care about.

I'll probably read Book 2 in the series.

I love it, I don't know, I love it, I don't know, I love it, I don't know, I love it, I don't know, I love it, I don't know, I love it, I don't know.

That sums this book up, will I read the next book... Yes... I don't know... Yes...

Meh. Buried under some odd writing, repetitive character descriptions, and obtuse "science", there's a decent story here. Well, part of it anyway. This is very much just the first in a series and ends up being little more than an extended chase sequence. I'm curious to get answers about the questions raised in this book but not enough that I'll read the next one.
