Somehow every single book about pirates or a ship on the sea has that something to completely transport you into the world. They're like no other genre.
Ok, so. Fable. Wow. Maybe it wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but it was good nonetheless.
I loved Fable's "diving sessions" to find precious stones. And just like, everything about this.
The rest of the crew was amazing as well. I just knew that it was going to give Six of Crows vibes.
Fable and West's romance was just... it had me squealing like a 5-year-old.
As much as I liked all of those things about this book, I'll say that the plot wasn't as hooking as I thought it would be. There were a lot of filler parts, but the other parts of the writing made up for it.
3.75/5.

As one of the most popular YA books of last year, with a strong rating on Goodreads, Fable is intriguing to pick up, as it promises a journey that is worth it. And, indeed, Fable by Adrienne Young does not disappoint. Atmospheric, with buckets of action and loads of information on ships, crews, pirates, traders, and the whole world that it introduces, Fable transports the reader right into a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, without copycatting them.

The female MC, fable, is a strong character who knows what she wants, most of the time, and gives a good narration to the reader of any age, as the author doesn't limit her to her young age. Thus, Fable speaks to all kinds of readers and she helps a lot with the progress of the story. The crew of Marigold is an interesting bunch as well, though the reader doesn't get many chances to get to know them through their adventures. Nevertheless, they are interesting characters and well written. Well written is also the twists and progress of the story, which is predictable at times, but keeps the thrill high too.

Unfortunately, at least for me, the romance did not work that well. It felt, in a way, less compared to the rest that the novel offers. That is not to say that the couple wasn't interesting and had good chemistry. However, the whole thing felt sudden and a bit surprising. Still, they had some romantic moments that were a delight to read.

Another thing that felt off was Fable's resolution towards the end. For me, it was a bit too much to do, but maybe I didn't get it the way it was intended.

So, overall, a pretty great book that nailed the whole navy theme.

This was very hard to get into. I didn't really like Fable and the plot seemed a bit thin. There wasn't that much going on. I expected more from this book.

Fable by Adrienne Young ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Fable follows the story of a young girl named Fable who was marooned on a scavenging island by her father after their family’s ship sunk. It follows Fable trying to escape the island and how she ends up on a ship to try and find her father again and get her inheritance. There’s a little bit of romance and a lot of mystery, overall it’s a good read. (Definitely not for young readers, probably 15+)

I really enjoyed this book but if I’m being honest it wasn’t the best I’ve ever read
