you know I really enjoyed this!! I decided to read this as part of the mafia readathon I’m doing and I was not disappointed I loved Lachlan and Mackenzie they were made for eachother!!

One of the few books that checked almost every box. The writing was good, the plot was gripping, and the characters had enough depth for a mafia crime romance. Just the right amount of steam, good pacing, and side characters that actually made you want more. But… something was missing. I realized it was my lack of real attachment to the main characters. Strange, since everything was set up so well—I understood their emotions and backstories, but I didn’t feel it. Sometimes, a book can be mediocre but still make you feel something - this one was really good but left me a bit cold.
Two minor issues: the pacing was a bit too quick—not much of a slow burn—and a 5’2” woman taking down men? Please. She had that “I’m not like other girls” energy at first, but it was explained well enough later on that it didn’t bother me.
Overall, I liked it and will keep reading the series. If you’re looking for a mafia romance, I’d still recommend it.

Loved Crow & Mack's story lots of action. This was a great introduction to this series.
Loved how much of a badass Mack is, a fighter through and through. Had a hard life but didn't let it hold her back

It’s my second re-read after finishing the series and I noticed clues about other characters that I didn’t see before.
Because Mack and Crow are my favourites, I feel like the rest of the series is like their epilogue story. We see glimpses of their life together after their book and I find myself looking forward to that more than wanting to reading about the other characters’ stories. I would love to see a bonus chapter on Mack and Crow during her pregnancy.
