This book made me cry so much. Medium spice, but I love Lach and Mack. Plus I'm a complete sucker for a strong FMC. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

@ 86%. i don’t remember why, thou i figured i was just tired of it and wanted to start something else.
4 stars! This was a really good book! This is the story of Lachlan and Mackenzie. Mack has had a rough life and lets very few people get close to her. One of those few friends, Talia, has gone missing and was mixed up with the Irish and Russian mafia through her work at a strip club. So Mack goes to work at the club and tries to investigate her friend's disappearance by infiltrating the Irish mafia. In doing so, she meets Lachlan. She and Lachlan are a perfect match. They are so good together. But there is a lot of action and they have to learn whether they can trust each other. And when Lachlan finds out that she lied to him to try to find out about Talia, he feels betrayed. Eventually though, all works out the way it should. I'm not usually a fan of mafia type books, but I really enjoyed this. I loved the characters. I loved Mackenzie. She was a kickass heroine. I really liked Lachlan too. There was a lot of violence, but it didn't bother me personally. I am really digging the world building here with the mafias and I liked the secondary characters so I hope this turns into a series. This was my first read by A. Zavarelli and I really enjoyed it so it won't be my last!
I loved it the first time I read it and I loved it even more the second time.
Now the re read is done I can read the rest of the series

the biggest mary sue to ever mary sue and the most cardboard gangster to ever be written, i’m afraid.
The book started out strong with so much potentials. Mackenzie is strong and determined to find out what happened to her friend. She is such a badass with her fight skills. Lachland is super hot, protective and possessive. He is totally obsessed with her even before he recognizes it. The tension and chemistry at the beginning was soo hot, I thought this book is gonna be so good. But ther are 2 problems. 1st, the writing style is kinda confusing. I’m not sure I 100% understand the plot of this book. The author should have remind the readers of previous events, such as what happened to Mandy. She cannot expect us to remember the event that was told briefly at the beginning of the book, that is somehow connected to the whole plot. The relationship between the members of the syndicate are not described clearly too. Ronan almost kidnapped Mackenzie and nothing happened to him? Mackenzie just kinda let it go? I thought she has more fire than that? Also I think the smut was a bit much, I feel like they are fucking like bunnies every other chapter, which feels repetitive since the description of the smut scenes are the same. I had high expectation but this book was not that gud. Spice: 2/5
I was looking for something gritty and different from my usual romances and this HIT.
At the end of the day it is a mafia romance so there were some silly goofy moments that were a bit ridiculous but not in a way that wasn’t still entertaining to read. I enjoyed watching Lach and Mack change and grow. The way they took care of each other was my favorite thing by far.
