So we’ve caught up to the point where the sister dies in the timeline…and there’s still 8 hours left??? I don’t care for this unfortunately

This was overall an enjoyable reading experience, but I was left feeling unsatisfied by the end. I didn't feel that Kathy was overall worthy of the good memories Sally seemed to have of her, as she treated her pretty badly in a lot of her time described in the book.

2.5 rounded up. I got this book from a blind date with a book. The first half of the book was decently entertaining and pretty unhinged. But as the book went on, I felt that it was dragging. By the last 100 pages or so, I just wanted it to end. There is also a small subplot of romance, but nothing meaningful really came of it and it seemed pointless. The drama or romance I hoped would happen didn’t - which left me wishing for more while also wanting the boring story to end.

I have been waffling between three and four stars on this one. I enjoyed the conversational style, which made it easy and engaging. I never lost interest or struggled to get through at any point. Ultimately, it just never really landed anywhere or made a discernible point. The ending was vague, not good or bad. I wanted to like it more, but upon reflection, I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be reflecting on.

Rounded to 3.5 stars. Kathy and Sally are sisters.

This book is just sad. Not cry your eyes out sad, just never ending sadness. But well written and a unique narration situation.

This book was very different from what I thought it would be about based on the title and I went in blind after only picking this up because it is narrated by the amazing Jesse Vilinsky. I expected a dark thriller,  but in truth,  this was a thoughtful coming-of-age story exploring grief,  depression,  and relationships in the wake of the loss of a loved one. While it doesn't have a riveting plot, it was an emotional look at how one event can affect the trajectories of so many lives. I found the main character's voice to be very compelling,  even if I don't agree with some of the choices she made.
