This book made me realize which horror subgenre resonates with me the most: the slasher. And this one is a perfect example.
Behind the clown and the bloody murders, there is a well-built story: a decaying town, residents desperate to restore their past glory, a wealthy developer making grand promises… and the perfect scapegoat to blame for everything: the teenagers.
Where other slashers simply pile up victims, this one gives meaning to the horror. It keeps the classic elements of the genre (tension, pace, inventive kills) while adding a layer of social critique: fear of the future, rejection of youth, and the weight of local grudges.
The result is a fun, gripping, and surprisingly intelligent novel. A real treat for anyone who loves old-school horror reimagined with a bit more depth.

My favorite part of the book was the reference to MAGA in the form of a note passed. The hatred the town has of its youth and their ways did not seem that far fetched when you consider MAGA. I think we’ll see more books using MAGA as the bad guys, sort of like how the Nazis get used. The hate and cruelty makes them targets for this in history. They have no one to blame but themselves.

I tell you this. I went it without knowing anything about it, not even reading the name of the book. And I liked it! I really did enjoy it
As a person that is terrified of clowns, I was expecting to have to sleep with the lights on tonight. Thankfully this was done in such a way, I will be able to sleep just fine. It was fun, gory and full of action from start to finish. I will read the rest of the books, and I think I will even watch the movie.
