I appreciated the deep analysis of thought, emotions, mainly shame related to her perception of her status. It is a very interesting portrayal of provincial life after the Second World War. However I did find some descriptions long and not really bringing anything to somebody who does not have specific memories linked to the town of Y. Overall it was long sometimes whereas it is an extremely short book.
