I kept telling myself I was going to rate this book four stars. You know, it had some really great parts, but also a few parts that irritated me, and overall that probably balanced out to four stars, right? 

By the end, I just couldn't bring myself to knock off a full star. Yeah, there were a few bits I didn't like, but that doesn't change the fact that I really LOVED most of this book. Recommended if you have a chronic illness, want to know what it's like to have a chronic illness, or really enjoy friendship stories.

There are a few references to the occult. A number of side characters are lesbian, trans, and various other gender/sexual identities--it's never a main focus of the story.

If you’re looking for great chronic illness rep in YA, a chaotic delight of a best friendship, or a climax that is absolutely off the charts, add Lycanthropy and Other Chronic Illnesses by Kristen O’Neal to your TBR. (Out in March.) 

Fair warnings for realness re: chronic illness especially as it pertains to mental health, and for gore/body horror because, well, werewolves. This might be a funny book, but it’s also very serious.
