Wow! What an adventure.
I’ve tried listening to this book a couple of times before & I’m glad I gave it another chance.
It went in so many directions I did not expect & I love when a mystery book surprises me (which doesn’t happen often anymore)
I’ll probably think about this one for a while.

Maybe the worst relationship put to paper, utterly toxic and engrossing.

Even though I absolutely knew Nick didn't kill Amy, I was so convinced he did by the end of part 1

This story is absolutely batshit

I watched the movie back when it came out and I’ve gotta say, the book felt a little too long —Fincher nicked off just the necessary bits.
That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. She is probably the most deranged psychopath of her literary era. He’s your average awful guy. In more than a way, they deserve each other.
I’ve seen countless reviews bashing the ending, but it made sense to me.
Amy will always get what she wants and will manipulate her way to it regardless of consequences, and Nick is just incompetent enough as a human being to not put up a fight. They’re both terrible people in their own right and will be trapped in a mess of their own making for the foreseeable future. Poor kid, though.

Was interested in the first half, then invested for 20 pages of act 2, then completely uninterested in anything said or done until the last 30 pages. The last 30 had me hooked. This was a roller coaster of whether I wanted to finish the book or not.

The writing itself was super vivid, and the characters' voices were super strong. Glad I decided to finish.

I enjoyed this novel for the unreliable narrator aspects but found myself really disturbed by the ending for a while. It begs the question of, should you still hope for a happy ending even when someone doesn’t deserve a happy ending? I also found myself disturbed by some of the main characters as well, but not in a way that was extremely off putting to me to put this in DNF.
