I have had this book on my TBR for awhile and I have been hesitant to pick it up. I finally decided to pick it up from the library and I am glad that I did. I have read Kasie West before and I like her writing style. I know she gets mixed reviews but so far I have liked her books. I liked how it alternated between the two futures for Addie. I also liked how each chapter connected to the previous even if it was a “What If?” I am curious to see what the second book in the duology is like and what happens with her relationships. I have to say that I was rooting for one of the futures over the other but I understand why Addie would have picked the one that she did.
Spoiler
Addie lives in the compound where each person has a different ability. In the beginning of the book, we learn that Addie's parents are going to get a divorce. Her mom is staying and her dad is going to leave the compound. Addie uses her ability, Search, to see which future would be best for her. Is it with her dad or her mom? In both futures, she starts a relationship and she continues to communicate with her best friend. Addie chooses her path rear the end of the book. Which future does she choose?
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I loved every second of this book. Once I actually sat down to read for a little bit, I didn't want to stop, it made me want to neglect everything else I had to do.
About halfway through, I caught some foreshadowing that almost made me not want to read any more because I was afraid of what might happen later. Then, two seconds later I was flipping the pages of the book again.
Usually stories that jump back and forth confuse me and leave me feeling lost, but this didn't do that at all. I was engaged with both alternatives and I needed to keep reading them both equally.
The ending of the book was incredible. It was so exciting and intense. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to be released.
CHARACTERS: I really liked the main character, Addie. She is very easy to relate to and I believe all of her feelings. My favorite character in the book is Trevor. He is very sweet and caring.
COVER: I really like the cover. I like what they did with the one clear image of the girl and the other faded image of the same girl.
**I received an ARC of this book from Amazon Vine for my honest review.

It was a little boring at the beginning but it really turned around. I'm still confused on what timeline is real / happening right now and what not but damn I was intrigued. Also, Trevor >>>>>>> Duke any time of the week for sure lmao
Such an interesting plot! Kept me reading and I couldn't put the book down. Luckily I had quite a few hours in the airport waiting, so it was perfect. I haven't been a huge fan of science-fiction so far, but this book had some elements in there, some supernatural powers, and I enjoyed it a lot!
Very cliché YA book so far but with mental superpowers.
Review
This was actually really good and I liked how the writer wrote the whole book! I also liked how the writer did the definitions in the beginning so you wouldn’t be lost.

I really enjoyed this book about a girl who could "search" or see her future between two choices. It was very creative and had good voice. It is built on the idea of a society where youths have special super powers and must go to a school to train their skills while the normal individuals are oblivious to those among them who are different. The main character must chose between living with her mom and staying in her special high school, or leaving to live with her father to attend a normal high school where she cannot use her powers.
This book started a bit slow for me as I was confused on what was going on after the first chapter or two. Once I picked up the clues, I devoured this read. A great mix of friendship, love story and ethics.

There is not a book by Kasie West that I’ve read and haven’t immediately fallen in love with. Pivot Point is no different.
This book has a very interesting premise: a place called The Compound where everyone has special powers. Addie has the power of divergence; she can see into the future and live out both sides of a decision. When her dad gives her the choice to live in the normal human world with him, she decides to see what would happen if she stays or if she goes.
This book was wonderfully written, weaving both sides of Addie’s life between each chapter. Addie is highly relatable and down to earth. It wasn’t difficult to get invested into the story because her voice is very distinctive and easy to follow.
It was interesting seeing how both of her lives played out and seeing how one choice could alter so much in the long run.
Addie has two lives, and consequently, two romances. Seeing how Addie interacted with each boy was interesting because she was different with both of them. Trevor was sweet and charming, but she had to keep her secret from him, while Duke was the star quarterback and he knew everything about her. Each romance seemed genuine, yet obviously one stood higher than the other. (TEAM TREVOR! <3)
It was interesting seeing the paranormal concept even if it wasn’t all that well explained. There was also an interesting mystery going on that Kasie West interestingly put together alongside Addie’s story.
I’ve got to say that her power was both a blessing and a curse. Having the foreknowledge of a decision you did and didn’t make is definitely very stressful. If I were in Addison’s position I would have no idea which path I’d take. In each path Addison has a certain life and she’d be giving up something different in each one. Not to mention that there’s an impressive cast of side characters and they each contribute something amazing to each side of the story.
Overall, Pivot Point is another amazing book by Kasie West that’ll have you captivated from start to finish. The ending will leave you breathless and with the biggest hangover ever.

“It was hard when I knew I was about to be flooded with memories of a life I hadn’t lived yet. Really, two lives I hadn’t lived yet.”
