It did not age well. But it is filled with nostalgia.
Michael is trash, I do not take criticism. Lily is a terrible friend. Her dad is childish. Her grandmother should have a rotveiler instead of a miny poodle. Mia is judgmental. I know I grew up with these books, so thank gods movies were better.

I won’t be posting this on my blog individually because I don’t have a lot to say about them seeing as they’ve been out for so long but honestly this book was exactly what I needed to get out of my slump.
It’s silly, childish, and just all around feel good.
Obviously written for a much younger me but it was nice to feel like that 15 year old watching the movie for the first time again.
Me thinks I have a new comfort book at the moment.

I could definitely see how this might be annoying for some. It also makes way more popular cultural references than I like, and which are obviously outdated, but listening to the audiobook read by Ann Hathaway, it was pretty enjoyable. Hathaway does the reading exceptionally, and while it might appeal more to teenagers, I was still able to enjoy it and thought Cabot did a pretty good job. It was interesting to see how it differed from the movie (such as her dad being alive, Lana becoming somewhat sympathetic towards the end, and her grandmother smoking just to name a few). I might continue listening to the audiobooks (at least the ones narrated by Hathaway) when I'm in the mood for something light.

It was fine. Very fluffy teen read. I certainly like the movie much more!
