A fun, quick-paced western rom-com. I love the characters in the town and was glad that they all showed up again the second novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for allowing me to read this ebook in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.

3.5-star read rounded up to 4 stars (I just love this town and all the characters)

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Hitched to the Gunslinger, so I was so excited to get the chance to read The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony. Just give me all the western romcoms at this point.

This one started started off on the perfect romcom note (I mean, how can you not be amused by a horse named Barnaby?), and it reinforced my thought all those months ago that I absolutely love western romcoms. I loved Adam and I loved Nora. They seemed perfect for each other.

And yet . . .

The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony didn't have the same spark that Hitched to the Gunslinger did for me. A lot of time was spent on Adam getting a new job and failing at it. While it all was amusing, I'm here for romance. Give me more Adam and Nora bantering and fighting. Give me more tension and comedic mishaps between the two.

While we're at it, there is a complaint that has carried over from the first book to this one: the female main character is often hardworking and running her own business - but we hardly ever get to see this! Give me those instances. Show me her at work doing what she loves.

None of this is to say this second book in the series was bad. It's not. It is funny and heartwarming. Despite being a tad underwhelmed by it, I'm here for this town and these characters. I can easily forgive the author for not meeting the high mark I expect (thanks, Hitched to the Gunslinger) as long as she continues writing this series because I just can't get enough of it.

Just like Hitched to the Gunslinger the first book in this series, Michelle brings the same humor in this book. If you are starting this series, you are just fine as each book can be read as their own standalone novel. Historical romance fiction books used to be a favorite of mine. I can tell you that after having read these two books that Michelle is bringing my love back for this genre.

Nora and Adam shared great chemistry between them. Not to mention the witty banter as well. I love witty banter. It makes the story so entertaining. Plus, it adds to the romantic attraction between the two main leads. There are some really steamy moments shared between Nora and Adam. Just the way I like my romances. All I have to say about The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is take me away cowboy!

**I received a copy of this book from Net Galley and Entangled Publishing in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinion is my own and not solicited**

The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony is a laugh out loud story that of course includes our favorite goat Lucille (with her blue ribbon), a gunslinger on the run who just so happens choses Desolation to stop at where everybody has a reason to be hiding but take care of each other. Throw in clause of you must get married or a job which leads to "very" helpful residents who find a way to help Adam Brady fail to get a job. Because Adam just managed to get himself hitched to Nora Schumacher who needs to get married to hang onto her farm if she can keep her father from finding the deed and gambling it away. She working 3 jobs just to keep her head above water and when sparks fly between Nora and Adam can they resist each other because there's someone who wants Adam badly from his past but watch out the citizen's of Desolation will protect their own.

This was such a funny story and I can't wait for the next book

Thank you Entangled Publishing for the ebook via NetGalley. This book is 100% a lot of what I don't read: Westerns, historical romance... but I was 100% in for the title and the promise of a witty, clever Western romance because books should be fun, escapist, and indeed witty and clever. From page 1 I was charmed by the humorous style, the don't take this too seriously have fun vibes, and the joy I could feel present in the writing, dialogue, and alliterative phrasing. The banter and steam and rom com style were perfect for a summer evening.
Grab a glass of wine, maybe soak in a bubble bath or sneak away to a deck or hammock, turn off your phone and treat yourself to The Gunslinger's Guide to Avoiding Matrimony.

(sent for review) This was super fun! 3.5 stars

I have never read a western romance and I'm not sure if I will ever again. Nothing against this book, just not my typical genre.

I can definitely see the appeal and this was fun and silly and the characters were so ridiculous and larger than life. The writing was decent, the plot line was fun and unique (accidental marriage!!). I don't know how this compares to other western romances tbh. I don't think this is personally a new favorite or anything and I don't think I'll ever re read this but it was definitely a lot of fun while reading. I guess I recommend if you like this genre of romance?

I give the writer a big plus at providing a story that had me entertained for a few hours. Adam and the sheriff certainly did get along in the most unique way. I enjoyed that the book read very quickly for me. I took this a page turner with a lot of excitement in it. The romance between Nora and Adam was very patient in some ways and others a heated relationship. I loved the the story was a fun read with laughter and sentimental moments.
