If you've followed my other reviews you know I haven't liked the direction this manga has been going for a while. The final volume is no exception. Everything is just downright weird.

Wow what a wild ride. It had a lot of turns I wasn't expecting. That was definitely an experience.
Finished last night and this is just a bunch of random thoughts.
***
Excellent action sequences, reliable characters despite the intensity, super fun without losing the main tone, and a romance that at first doesn't seem to work at all but in the end, it's heartwarming AF... Fire Punch is everything AoT should have been, narratively speaking. I'll probably revisit this critique in the future, but now I think it's crazy how Fujimoto managed to escape all of Isayama's ideological stumbles, with a story that appears to be so damn out of control.
We also have here a one-dimensional protagonist (but the good kind), and a plot that deserved more time to be developed better, however for those who like magical realism (like me), I would say that this ending was truly satisfactory... it's also an attempt to tell all this from a nihilist perspective, and despite having a terrible feeling of emptiness, the way everything ended was also comforting, I guess.
if by chance you stopped at volume 1 because everything seemed pure insanity and bad taste just hear me out, I'm not gonna lie to you, it's still pretty crazy, but from the second volume on it becomes another kind of crazy, the nice kinda crazy you know, with the little umbrellas? hehe
sorry, it was a reference from dreamwork's Sinbad movie... and sorry again, no little umbrellas. But maybe if you give it another shot as I did, you might like it too.
oh, oh, ps:
CSM is better.

This volume provides a pretty satisfying conclusion and brings everything neatly together. Honestly a very strong finish.
This might very well be the wildest ride I've had in a manga. Just never stopped surprising me. I'd probably rank it at a solid 8 out of 10 with the caveat that it's not for everyone. It honestly could've reached masterpiece levels if it had better execution of its themes and left out a few of the... less savory elements.
Will probably post a full series review later.
