just a basic thriller, predictable. again, fairly interesting prompt but mediocre execution. didn’t really care much for the characters — they were just all kinda hollow, idk

I found this novel to be mildly entertaining. There were parts that were interesting, but in general I just plodded through it. The characters didn't suck me in at all and the story was told from both sides so there wasn't even any suspense. The twist was nice, but not enough to save this below average thriller.

Excellent page-turner. If you like Grisham or Baldacci or Lescroart, add this to your reading list.

My husband liked the book a lot and would give it a four. He wanted to buy more in this series which is unusual for him.

However, since I am writing this review I will give it a three. I thought it was readable but the plot was predictable and I solved the mystery halfway through the book which usually I cannot do.

I enjoyed this book because it was exciting and kept your interest. I did figure out who did it, but only right before the author revealed the killer. Lies and deceitand cover ups in the White House? Quite plausible!

This is probably my favorite Margolin book. The story kept evolving, with more twists and turns developing throughout the story. There was never a dull moment as I find in many crime mystery books. Perhaps the greatest thing about this story is that I was never able to figure out who did it. The reader is led to believe the crimes were committed by one of several people, none of which was true at the end. The story shows that nobody is above the law, not even those in the highest of government offices. Great read, quick page turner, and always engaging. I highly recommend this book if you like lots of action, twists and turns, and unpredictability.

Fast paced thriller with great character development and detailed plot. I figured it out early on, but it didn't stop me from devouring the book. I loved how well Margolin wrapped it all up, tying up all the loose ends he so well hid along the way. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this series.

Classic, easy to read thriller, with a kind of surprising ending. Good to clear out my brain after reading Cloud Atlas.
