Ender's game, given it's status as a classic Hugo and Nebula award winning novel, has been on my list for some time now, and having now completed the book, I can understand why such praised has been heaped upon it and why it has routinely made it on to several of the top Sci-Fi recommendation reading lists over the passing decades. If I could, I would probably give this novel a 4.25 or a 4.5 out of 5 given the way the book ended and what we discovered about Ender's game, but regardless of my reading, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci-Fi that deals with the ethics of how specific military strategies are implemented.

I re-read this for the second time, I already have a 5 star rating, and I will happily give it again. Definitely one of my favorite books. A sci-fi, coming of age story, with the buildup of a political war constantly in the background. The pacing is, again, excellent. It starts off slowly, and the tension builds up perfectly, slowly, and by the end you're absolutely gripped but you aren't racing. The author has a unique grasp on the effects of violence and sociopathy on characters. These characters are unable to predict, and he constantly forms them and keeps them growing and evolving. Also the twist at the end is a killer. The thing is, I don't understand why this is a quartet. I think everything wrapped up beautifully, and I dislike when an author unnecessarily drags things out. I haven't read the other books of the quartet for this reason, but now I think it's time to try them out. Read this freaking book.
